For every topic, there is a blog. Bloggers write about what they’re eating, what they’re wearing, who they’re dating and where they are going. And when they’re not writing about themselves, they’re writing about what their pets are eating and wearing. However, it’s not really what you write about that makes your blog a success as much as your personal commitment to writing (number of posts and a relative organized theme.) According to a recent study from the Center for Marketing Research at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth:
- Blogs take time and committment
- Blogs must have focus
- Blogs must be authentic and transparent

It’s WorldCup madness out there, and BlogBurst was quick to jump on the opportunity to promote WorldCup blogs to our publishers. Right now, you can find syndicated WorldCup BlogBurst blogs on the Houston Chronicle and the Austin American-Statesman, which are running the blogs alongside their own coverage of the event.
Some of the soccer blogs featured on these publisher sites are:
We are making efforts in every way to promote blogs covering timely events, such as the WorldCup, to our publishers. Please send us your ideas on future events that bloggers will be covering and that we should be promoting to publishers.
…and, we’re back! BlogBurst made improvements over the weekend that give bloggers more insight into which publishers have picked up their blog. Please, check out Reports in the BlogBurst workbench to see the top ten publishers that are syndicating your blog. Our future improvements to Reports include giving you access to more detail on where your blog is syndicated and how it is being presented.
If you are not seeing any activity yet, please know that both our team and the publishers are working hard on introducing more blogs and more topics to more publishers. Since launching BlogBurst in May, we have made significant headway in adding more publisher partners and opening up the topic stream. But, the process typically takes care and time, so please be patient while we continue to promote your blogs.
As always, we encourage and welcome your feedback and ideas on how to make BlogBurst even better for our bloggers.
Bloggers - do not be alarmed! Stay in your homes; stay in your pajamas; watch bad reruns of The Facts of Life…BlogBurst will be back with you shortly.
Although BlogBurst will be down in bits and spurts over the weekend (mostly just Saturday), we will be back sooner than you can say, “Holy Wagnuts, Batman! They’ve just improved BlogBurst!”
We’re excited to tell you more about these changes next week. Stay tuned…
Last week, BlogBurst announced its partnership with Spot-On.com, a blog with clever, thoughtful writing on politics and current events. The partnership will allow BlogBurst to package and deliver the posts by Spot-On’s talented journalists to BlogBurst publishers. The partnership will also help demonstrate BlogBurst’s commitment to quality blogs, which will enhance our relationships to publishers and bloggers alike. The more we can establish our credibility in the traditional news space, the more opportunities we’ll have to syndicate a great number of blogs.
We look forward to making more partnership announcements like this over the summer that will demonstrate our growth and help open up more opportunities for syndication of your blogs.
We usually shy away from posts that simply link to other content on the web, but when something comes along that we think might be useful to our blog partners it’s time to call forth the power of the href.
Tim Ziegler, web designer and author on Webmonkey, not to mention an Austinite, writes a great article on using WordPress as your blogging platform. We don’t have a preference for WordPress over any other blogging platform here at Pluck, but if you are on the WordPress platform, or thinking about using it, then this article is for you.
Enjoy your weekend and stay tuned as we will have some more product news for you next week (hint: a long awaited reporting request).
Some of you may have encountered this already: You happen to stop by BlogBurst or your favorite feed reader to see your blog’s posts and on your BlogBurst profile page you notice that all of your posts since last Tuesday are missing. Nine times out of ten this is the result of a broken RSS or ATOM feed.
The good news is that there are some pretty common causes of the feed flu and they can be resolved quickly in most cases. More after the jump
