How do you get on one of those Special BurstWires? Is that automatic, or do we have to request it? And, if we have to request it, do we have to immediately upon posting, or what?

I’ve wrote six articles about the Mitchell Investigation into Baseball’s steroid problem, and I haven’t gotten a ‘bustwire’?

Sorry for the confusion. When breaking or seasonal news occurs, editors at BlogBurst will create a “Special Burstwire” to offer to network publishers. This allows publishers to quickly place relevant content on their sites. Past Burstwires have included the grouping of posts about the California Wildfires, Omaha Mall Shooting, Sen. Larry Craig, and Michael Vick.

Special Burstwires are only available to our publishing partners. While we will organize posts into Special Burstwire groupings, publisher use is at their discretion.

Sorry, but I guess I don’t understand the answer. Maybe the question isn’t clear. Does blogburst select posts to put out on special burstwires or do blog authors choose where they want to appear? How do you select posts for the bustwires? When you say “publishers,” you must not mean bloggers, but must be referring to clients who pay money to read the stuff we write, right? So when you say “only available to our publishing partners,” you must be referring to people who buy our stuff from you, not to the bloggers who actually write (and publish) on the Internet. And, if one of my posts in on a special burstwire, will you tell me?

BlogBurst editors select posts that are relevant to breaking news or seasonal events and highlights them to publishers (i.e. Reuters and USA Today) for added placement. It’s simply a way for BlogBurst to tell publishers: “It’s the holiday season! Look at all these amazing posts that feature gift guides and recipes,” etc…

It is still up to the publisher to pick-up the post and place it on their site. If a publisher places a post, placement and metrics will be reported on your workbench as usual.

Is there a place on your web site or blog that bloggers can see what the BurstWires are at any given time?

    Hi Carol,

Since it is the nature of the blogosphere to report on the most relevant events of the week, BlogBurst bloggers tend to drive the creation of these BurstWires. For example, if I notice a surge in the amount of bloggers posting coverage on breaking news event, we may create a Special BurstWire to promote the fact to our publishers. When we see the opportunity for a Special BurstWire on the horizon (upcoming holidays or events), we will promote this to our network members through the BurstBlog.
